AI and Data Science

The Institute for Interdisciplinary Data Sciences (IIDS) at the University of Idaho is offering an exciting opportunity for up to three graduate students to participate in internships during the 2025-2026 academic year. These internships are supported by the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) and aim to engage students in the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science to enhance the university's strategic planning and administrative operations.

Open to current and newly admitted graduate students enrolled full time effective Fall 2025 in a U of I graduate program. PhD students preferred, but well qualified MS students will be considered.


Internship Scope and Activities

The internships are designed to leverage recent advancements in data science and AI to improve organizational efficiency and decision-making at the University of Idaho. Interns will work closely with IIDS staff and faculty to develop AI and data science solutions that enhance knowledge work and support organizational decisions. Projects may involve the application of generative AI, automation of document processing, data interoperability, and predictive modeling, among other tasks.
